Credit crunch, oil crisis, global warming, European exchange rates, spiralling food costs – views, opinions and the ensuing debate of how, and to what extent such issues will impact on Welsh tourism continues.

For us as individuals living and working in South West Wales, important as they are, such issues are difficult (if not impossible) for us to infl uence, let alone positively change on a global stage.

Nevertheless, with tourism supporting some 22,000 full time or equivalent jobs, and contributing in excess of £500 million per annum to the SW Wales economy, our responsibilities to make a positive contribution towards attaining a sustainable region, environmentally, socially, culturally and economically, have never been greater.

First and foremost, the South West Wales Tourism Partnership (SWWTP) is committed to the future prosperity and quality of life of local communities, businesses and its people. By working hand in hand with the public, private and voluntary sectors, the Partnership fully and unequivocally subscribes to the Welsh Assembly Government’s ‘One Wales’ policy.

Be it skills, career development, product quality, marketing, or matters pertaining to Spatial Planning, the SWWTP has, over the past 5 years, demonstrated the added value brought about by pro-active collaboration between all stakeholders.
